Dr. (Mrs.) Shayama Chona is the only school educator in our country who has been bestowed with both, the Padma Shri (1999) and Padma Bhushan (2008) by the President of India.
Dr. Chona has broken barriers to touch and change many lives. She has launched major initiatives to promote the teaching of Science, Computers and Information Technology in schools.
Having served on more than 100 advisory boards and school management committees, she is an educationist par excellence. She is a member of the Indian National Commission for cooperation with UNESCO, the Governing body of CBSE and the National Mission Authority (NMA) of the National Mission for Empowerment of Women by the President of India. Her name finds place in the Limca Book of World Records 2007, in honour of receiving the highest number of awards.
