The pioneering institution in this series, Babu Banarasi Das National Institute of Technology & Management (BBDNITM), was established in 1998.
Subsequently, in 2010, Mr. Akhilesh Das founded Babu Banarasi Das University (BBDU), named in honor of his father and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Babu Banarasi Das.
